Infinity (6.5 2009 and 7.5 2010):

* Having cams that are fitting for a variety of masts is really neat as it ensures good rotation regardless of mast diameter
* The fact that the sail is not very mast specific is a great boon. I am a heavy guy and I have experimented using the 7.5 on a 490 SDM mast after having read something about Dave White in the UK and his quirky stiff mast rigging… I went back to the 460 SDM Ezzy mast though..
* The infinity has a nice stable and forward draft which helps to keep my big freeride board in good pitch without tail walking in gusts.
* The build quality = like no other
* The infinity tunes well with a variable outhaul which I have learned to like on my old school raceboard when beating upwind I can flatten the sail easily point more, at the upwind mark just slack the ropes off, yank the mastrack back and power away with a deep deep drafting sail that stays in shape well and also gives the sail a big wind range (I have a 6.5 and a 7.5 but really they are too close in size)

Panther: (5.2, 6.0 2009′s, my new 6.9 is still on order)

* Positive feeling in the bottom end
* Build quality
* Easy to rig, easy to tune
* Massive wind range

In general about Ezzy sails:

* No need for gazillions of pounds of downhaul (I have back issues)
* Well built and really nice looking sails
* Honest price levels in comparison to other brands
* The Ezzy company seems to put people first with regards to manufacturing and that counts for something imho.
* So far any question I have had has been answered by the folks at ezzy, yourself and David included.

Five Reasons Why I Like Ezzy Brand Windsurfing Sails

Traverse City, Michigan

1. Instructions come in the sail bag.

When I began windsurfing in the early nineties, twenty years ago, I tried a number of brands. I also had to swim to shore many times with broken mast tops and bottoms, broken booms, and torn sails. Back then, I had windsurfing ambition but the technique of Daffy the Duck. I had never been taught how to rig the sail or even how to sail. I just had new sails and masts delivered to me by mail. I do not remember any instructions arriving in yesteryear’s sail bags either! Ezzy sails come with the designer’s intentions and rigging instructions in the bag.

2. Additional, model-specific support on the Web.

Before, brand or model-specific information never made it from wherever my sails were designed to the usually frozen beach in Northern Michigan. Other sailors may have occasionally offered rigging suggestions, but accuracy was always in question. Having an Ezzy brand sail now, if I need more information, an illustration, or demonstration, I can go to the Ezzy Web site or pull up an Ezzy video on YouTube.

3. Tension and Rigging Guides are on the sail.

Improperly threading a mast base and guessing at the proper tension for the downhaul of the sail means more time rigging and less time windsurfing. Having twists in the line makes it especially impossible to fine-tune the sail! Ezzy’s support continues on the beach with downhaul tension and rigging guides on the sail that show how to properly thread the rope at the base.

4. Confidence in the Rigging

Confidence in windsurfing comes with experience, but it’s also in the rigging. After all these years, I’m finally, consistently, happily, carrying my rig to the water’s edge with absolute confidence and readiness to windsurf, which is to say, my Ezzy sail gets me in the water faster and surer!

5. Technique

Dave Ezzy delivers experience from the factory to my beach, hence my fifth reason for liking Ezzy sails above all others. Once I’m on the water, well, there are at least five things I need to improve about my technique, but riding an Ezzy sail, that is all I have to be concerned with: my technique and the wind. See you on the water!

Lord of the Wind 2011 – Pritchard wins against kitesurfers

Kevin Pritchard wins the race against kitesurfers
at Baja, Mexico.

Fantastic winds came blowing down the Sea of Cortez for the big Lord of the Wind Showdown at Los Barriles.

The competition was to take some fast kiters against some fast windsurfers and have an all out duel for $3500 in cash!

It was a three mile upwind and downwind course,
and the fastest man, woman, or child could take a stab
at winning the purse.

During the pre race riders meeting, there was already a preheated battle

when the organizers were talking about dividing up the prize money into the different classes.

The overall winner would take $2000 and the winnner of the division that didn’t win, being kiteboards or windsurfing, would get $1000.

The kiteboards spoke up and said nope, we want to take all the money and beat down the windsurfers.

PRITCHARD VS. KITEBOARDERS

So, it was off to the water to settle the score.

At the start of the race, the kiteboarders opened up with all the confidence in the world, with John Hieneken out in front.

Kevin Pritchard was the windsurfers ace card and had a reasonably safe start but gave up some distance.

As the kites battled against the windsurfers, inch by inch, the crafty Pritchard started turning up the speed.

With a bit of an extra drive from the earlier riders meeting, Pritchard was holding down his board
and amazing hi-tech Ezzy Infinity wing/sail
as best he could to prove to the world, who still could make it around a course faster.

And who made it to the top first, non other than Kevin Pritchard,

flying his new Ezzy two cam Infinity wing/sails,

mounted to his Isonic 133 Slalom board.

Knowing that the kites could make up some time on the downwind,

Pritchard put the hammer down and went flying off the wind.

It was three miles down wind to the finish.

At the end Pritchard claimed victory over

some of the worlds best kiteboarders

by around a minute faster!!!

In fact the first kiteboarder pumped his fist
going across the line in stoke for his victory,
not even being able to see Pritchard,

cause he was so far out in front!

“This was a memorable victory.

The kiters were so confident that they were going to win,
it put a fire under me.

I really was just down in Baja to hang out with my
brother and his family and do some windsurfing.

When they started talking it up, I was like ok, lets do this.

I went, got my Ezzy Infinity 8.5 Hi - Tech two cam wing/sail,

and my big slalom board and put it down.

The wind was perfect, and they must feel pretty bad getting beaten by not even a race sail!

It was great, the whole beach was cheering for me,
and I think they had heard enough of the kiteboarders talking it up.

Even some of the kiters were stoked to see the windsurf still hold the edge!

It was really fun in the end,

especially since the windsurfing took the victory.

I felt like it was a victory for all windsurfers, not just for myself.

It felt great!” said Kevin Pritchard after his victory.
