I don't get it. On the east coast US you never see Caution kites. I been on them for one year and love them. Seems like I can use a size down and still keep moving faster then most. They jump great and move quickly. The price is great. They are built great. Whats up?

west coast, COAST riders, are very often on caution. Most of the california coast seems to be dominated or atleast have a very strong caution following, i chalk it up(always wanted to say chalk it up) to good representation by team riders/dealers/locals. The kites are also unbelievable when it comes to taking a beating in the surf, unbelievable, seen it again and again, every time i ride the coast i see atleast one caution come out of being battered in the surf without a single problem, amazing.

i also tend to notice(from the net) a lot of UK caution camps, as well as the sporadic AUS caution camp.

I agree, these are the best kites i have flown, and that is why i use them. I could use/sell almost any kite here. The construction can take our big heavy waves in acapulco. Having the owners/designer as friends is very cool as well. Caution is pretty well represented in La Ventana in Baja, and is slowly but surely growing here on the Mainland.
I am getting my full quiver very soon, i am very excited.

Probably because the're not into the "hype" of other brands? It's a pity, as the kites are certainly one of the best out there.

I've had a good couple of hours on most of the '06 models now already, and once again, they have delivered an excellent product. Maybe there'll be a few more "enlightened" riders out your way soon.

What is Caution doing for '06? Staying with 4 lines, 5th line optional like now? Where can we go on the net to look at '06 Sptifires??

They come with the fifth line now, sort of like the North's in a V style.
They can be flown with or without no problem. The fifth line now comes included. Some pictures here:

Andres, do you think performance of the '06 Spitfire will suffer if flown without the 5th line? Did they shrink the LE so it is now dependent on a 5th line for stability? What do you think?? M

I have not flown them, but they do not rely on the 5th, they can be flown with 4 lines no problem.

Motu,

What size do you want to know about? Maybe I can give you some more specific info?

Generally speaking, yes the LE is smaller diameter on most sizes, BUT the guys at Caution have ensured that you can still fly them in 4 line mode if you choose.
I was pretty anti-5th line as I spend 95% of my time in the surf, but I must say that so far, the new setup seems to work really well and the kites are definately an all round improvement. So, no, the performance has not suffered at all.

I agree as well with these posts WRT to Caution kites being excellent!
First yr that I ride them and I cannot stop thinking what a nice setup they are. Also everyone who has had a go at them usually understand what the fuss is all about.
It's a pitty that they are not as popular as in North California worldwide, the graphics
may scare some???Not sure.
Don't forget the boards as well , the Redline is a great all rounder!

Is Caution into the bowkite "thingy"? Also, is their 5th line like the North "V" or the SS system?

I have seen photos of a Caution 'flat' kite a couple of months back so they are certainly on it.

What they won't be doing is rushing it into the market place along with claims of having been working on it since 1971.

I would think the strong Caution construction and their uniquely wide, flat seams will be very suited to making a solid and reliable widespan kite that can handle the high stresses involved when bows are pushed to the limit.

The classic Caution kites are highly rated by owners and the reliability and all round performance make them a no-brainer to deal with... so I don't think 'underrated' is quite the right term... I guess they are just not as widely distributed in as high a volume as kites that are run through long established windsurfing distribution networks.

Just tuff if you don't like flames on yer kite and a hint of attitude

The board range is also looking very strong for 06.
